What I Wish I Knew Before My Child’s Baptism (+ Free Checklist)
When my child was getting ready for baptism, I was filled with joy — and completely overwhelmed.
Honestly, I didn’t even know where to start. I was so frazzled that our ministering brothers stepped in and took care of everything. Looking back, I’m still not sure why it felt so stressful — but I do know I don’t want anyone else to feel that way.
“I didn’t even know where to start — I was so overwhelmed that our ministering brothers had to take over. That moment stuck with me.”
That experience stuck with me. As time went on, I started thinking about all the baptisms I’d attended — and all the beautiful programs I created afterward. Slowly, I began to gather ideas and create resources to help other families feel more prepared, calm, and focused on what really matters.
✨ What I Wish I’d Known:
- You don’t need to plan everything alone
- The small things (like choosing a song or writing a talk) can actually be the most meaningful
- Having a checklist helps you feel calm and prepared — so you can focus on the moment
📋 That’s why I created a Baptism Prep Checklist for LDS Families
It’s short, warm, and practical — organized into 3 sections:
- Before the Baptism
- During the Program
- After the Baptism (including thank-yous + keepsake ideas)
You can print it, share it with family members, or tuck it into a notebook or binder as you plan.
